Exclusive Interview: Milly Marzz

What is your name and what city do you rep?

My name is Milly Marzz. I rep Philadelphia, PA, The DMV, and I now reside in Houston, so I have to rep H- Town 100 percent.

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

The inspiration behind Big Bro, are painful trials and tribulations that I experienced in my life, stemming from my teenage years to my adult life. I needed an outlet and I decided to lay everything on the table at the studio.

Kings Triumph was inspired by the clarify that I have gained. I based the song off of the 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader. Over the years, I have recognized exactly who I am. My presence is that of a King. It represents overcoming adversity, achieving all the goals I have set out to accomplish, and staying true to self along the way. The word Triumph, meaning victorious achievement was something that stood out to me. I no longer fear anything. Roll out the red carpet me, I know who I am now, and not a single person can stand in my way. The songs embodies power.

What is unique about you and your music?

I am a versatile artist. I can switch up my flow, for example on Kings Triumph both verses are me. When listening, you may think the second verse is a feature, however I switched up the tone and channeled a different version of myself. I also feel as though I can channel a wide range of beat selection.

What shaped your music?

My music was shaped by pain, ambition, and resilience as well as the ability to utilize discernment. I like to concentrate on what people need. I always want to give those who listen to me something to walk away with, something they can resonate with.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

I realized this year, beginning of 2023 that I wanted to take this artistry seriously. The artists’ of Griselda are a true influence to me. Benny, Conway, these guys are coming in, bringing real hip hop back. Very little interest in the fame behind it, but the bars are real. The truth behind it is real, it’s talent, its gritty, the artistry is authentic.

What type of music do you listen to?

I listen to hip hop. A ton of different artist. I respect everybody in the game. I listen to Jazz, I also listen to Gospel music.

What inspires you to write music?

Music has always been apart of my life and an outlet I have used to create peace within my enviroment. I grew up listening to music daily. I have always felt it was a huge part of my life.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

Aside from music, I work out a lot. I am big into fitness, both for physical and mental health. It’s important. Without good health you have nothing. I also give find the time to get out in the community and give back however I can. I also am into gaming, I hop on Call Of Duty when I can.

Happiness to you is…

Happiness to me is waking up everyday and doing whatever I want to. Having the ability to create, live life the way I envision. I’ve found happiness in being in the position to take care of myself and the people around me, the security and having the resources to do has created peace for me. Having a solid foundation and belief system has created happiness within me, it’s positive energy over here. I’m a simple guy.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

I would say, starting out with the mindset that this is a marathon, not a race. Really finding your sound and your support system. Having a solid team behind you, positive people, with business mindsets is top tier. Also what is really important is having the resources, the ability to get into the studio, market yourself, put yourself out there. Lastly, I would say do not conform to social norms and what society tells you is a “rapper” be authentic to self and understand your purpose and who you are. What inspires you and what you represent. A lot of people will try and mold you into their version of you, have to remain true to self.
