Exclusive Interview: Fast Rising Maryland artist Nino Yayo

What is your name and what city do you rep?

For the ones that know me, they know me as Nique, but others know me as Nino. I’m From DC but I haven’t lived there in years so I rep My Southern Maryland Roots.

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

All of my latest releases are what I like to call attention grabbers, my main goal as an artist right now is to keep building my buzz independently. Making it in this industry is all the inspiration I need when I step into the studio. Every song is a vibe, and I have over hundreds of unreleased songs.

What is unique about you and your music?

What makes my music so unique is the fact that I have the ability to create many different sounds and vibes. A lot of ppl from my area can’t do that, if anyone knows the DMV they are known for a specific sound and that sound just isn’t me.

What shaped your music?

I’m a story teller, a writer, and as an artists that has his roots deep in music, I believe that every beat has a story and it’s up to the artist to bring it to life. I’ve had life experiences when I felt I was stripped of my dreams, and that’s why I go so hard when it comes to music because I will never let that happen again.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

I didn’t actually. I got around some of the right people and they were the ones that told me I could go somewhere with the music. For me once I see I can possibly make money from it, I’m gassing it full throttle.

What type of music do you listen to?

You wouldn’t believe it but I listen to everything, any genre really, whatever I’m feeling at the moment, rock, pop, classical instrumentals the list goes on.

What inspires you to write music?

I am inspired to write music because I know it can open up so many other doors for me in which I could then turn around and use my platform to help out the talented people in my city and cities around the world.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

I’m an all around artist so when I’m not in the studio which is rare, I’m usually doing tattoos or drawing. That’s another love of mine, my love before music.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

I wish I was told there is no one way to make it, find yourself find your niche and do your thing! If you’re dope you will be recognized by someone. I was always so content on trying to make it in this game the way I’d seen others do it but everybody is different. So make your own wave and sure enough if you have what it takes you will pop!

Tell us about your upcoming projects…

I have an album that’s set to drop the date is yet to be announced it is called the “The Slime Tape Volume 3” I also just recently dropped a single entitled “MULTIPLATINUM” on all platforms which is available for stream and download, and my most recent video featuring Baby C entitled “Deep End” is on YouTube now!

Any last words for the readers?

I just want to really let all of my fans and supporters know that the love and support is much appreciated, I will continue to grind as I’m never pleased so as I grow as a person and an artist I hope my fans can continue to grow with me! Much Love – Nino
