Emerging North Philly artist Acorn Morocco Drops New Single ‘Forgive Yourself’

The song is a response to the things we’ve experienced/seen in the US over the last few years. With constant overemphasis on why it’s “just impossible” for us to figure things out collectively anymore..

“I wanted to reintroduce the common thread we all share… that being labor” says Acorn.

Everything that gets done in this country, or any country, gets done by its labor force. We build the structures, we fight the wars, we buy the goods.

Forced (past & present), unpaid, underpaid, free, unemployed, underemployed, well-payed, etc, the realities and tensions that weigh on us because of it, can make things extremely tricky in a democratic society, particularly one that’s a melting pot. Fingers are too easily pointed, and boogie-men are too easily made. This makes it extremely easy to play on people’s emotions. Entire communities of people can end up scapegoated.

So we’re all learning the true volatility of a democratic society, in real-time. But as Americans, that’s the burden we carry. And we have to figure it out. We have no choice.

Labor Day approaches. Celebrate it like never before. Take a listen to ‘Forgive Yourself’ below.
