Devyyyoboy: Finding His Voice Through Faith, Family, and Music
Devyyyoboy is an artist whose journey started in Akron, Ohio before moving to Canton during his middle school years. Music has been a part of his life for as long as he can remember, but things really took shape back in 2013 when he began rapping alongside his friend Yuri. What started as two kids having fun quickly turned into something deeper. For Devyyyoboy, the inspiration to become an artist came from God and his father, who both planted the seed for him to pursue his gift and use it as a way to express himself.
As a child, he was always singing, rapping, and absorbing different styles of music. That wide exposure molded him into the versatile creator he is today. His catalog stretches across multiple genres including rap, R&B, pop, rock, and even playful tracks that highlight his lighter side. Although he does not consider himself an instrumentalist, he has picked up a few songs on the piano, a small but meaningful way of connecting further with his craft.
Some of his biggest influences include XXXTentacion, Trippie Redd, The Weeknd, and Tyler, the Creator. Each of these artists share a common thread of being unafraid to experiment and push boundaries, something that Devyyyoboy relates to and applies in his own music. His career is still in its early stages, but he has already performed live, released songs, and built relationships with other artists. One performance in particular stands out in his memory, when the crowd was so full of energy that they jumped along with him throughout the set. The connection was so strong that one audience member even gifted him a bottle of wine afterward as a sign of respect for his performance. Moments like that fuel his drive to keep going.
What’s Next: Devyyyoboy sees himself as only scratching the surface of what he is capable of. He is currently working on multiple new projects and preparing to release his first EP or album in the near future.
