DAYBWAY Unveils Exploration of Identity and Circumstance With Debut EP "Circumtagonist"

Emerging London rapper DAYBWAY has dropped his highly anticipated debut EP, Circumtagonist, inviting listeners into a compelling narrative of life’s grey zones through the lens of hip hop/rap.

On Circumtagonist, DAYBWAY documents a chapter of his life where identity and intention remain in flux. In some moments he appears as the protagonist, in others the antagonist, but circumstance is the constant decisions shaped by pressure, environment, and survival rather than ego. The project isn’t framed as justification, but as acknowledgment. As DAYBWAY explains, “It wasn’t a long writing process, but it was definitely felt. There was conflict, there was purpose, and we put it together from there. That emotional tension carries through both the writing and the recording. My process is usually simple, safe, comfortable, keeping love around me,” he adds, “grounding the EP in honesty rather than spectacle.” Circumtagonist sits firmly in the grey area, offering a perspective for underground rap listeners who value truth over clean narratives.

DAYBWAY’s opening body of work arrives with striking confidence, carving a lane that feels thoughtful, immersive, and deeply self-aware without leaning on familiar storytelling shortcuts. The project thrives on mood and intention, pulling the audience into a reflective space where vulnerability meets precision and every moment feels deliberate. His delivery carries weight, pairing measured intensity with an unforced calm that makes the listening experience feel personal rather than performative. Sonically, the record maintains cohesion while still offering enough variation to keep each track engaging, showing a clear understanding of pacing and tone. What stands out most is the maturity behind the execution, suggesting an artist who values substance, growth, and artistic clarity over instant validation. This release doesn’t beg for attention; it earns respect through focus, restraint, and a strong sense of identity, positioning DAYBWAY as a compelling new presence with lasting potential.

DAYBWAY is a London-born artist from Lewisham, home of the heart, where everything really starts. Raised moving through different areas but rooted in the same circle, his upbringing shaped both his sound and his perspective. Many of the people around him growing up are still part of his life now, grounding his music in loyalty and lived experience. He first started making beats on GarageBand at 11, began rapping with his cousin by 12, and recorded his earliest song with his dad as a joke. By 14 or 15, studio sessions became serious, and music stayed close from there. Influenced early by artists like Swae Lee, Migos, Young Thug, Future, and Wizkid, DAYBWAY also drew inspiration from UK artists such as Yung Fume, D-Block Europe, and J Avalanche, especially watching them push UK sound and identity into the U.S. authentically.

DAYBWAY’s music reflects his truth without compromise. If listeners can’t relate, that’s fine, but the talent and intent are undeniable. After a consistent SoundCloud run in 2025 that built momentum and plays, he’s now shifting focus toward Spotify and TikTok, aiming to expand reach without diluting identity. The name DAYBWAY represents authenticity through consciousness, moving without obsessing over what’s considered right or wrong, average or expected. Originally known as YB, he felt the need for a name that fully represented him.

Following a few live shows in 2023, DAYBWAY stepped back into the booth with a renewed mindset, treating his growth like a reset, studying his craft, refining his approach, and giving himself time to evolve. He often creates by producing and engineering himself; while most of his latest EP isn’t fully self-produced, every track is engineered by him. His process stays flexible: sometimes quiet and focused, sometimes chaotic, gambling, making money, spending money, and creating value through lived moments. What separates DAYBWAY is discipline without ego. He prioritises craft, self-awareness, and the people he keeps close. His circle isn’t built on fame or wealth, but on soul and that same energy runs through the music.
