The Caribbean bred crooner channels the pain of his father’s passing into a catchy ballad titled “Otherside”

Chris Catlin has the perfect pain remedy on 'Otherside'

With brooding keys setting the underlying tone of the track, the Fort Myers, FL talisman Chris Catlin shares his therapeutic emo-rap anthem – “Otherside”. The new track has a melodic introspective sound and truly showcases Chris Catlin’s skills as a diverse artist. “Otherside” can be described as a vibe — as it’s something that anyone can listen to anywhere.

Inspired by the untimely demise of his influential dad, the song is about a shared sorrow with a lady friend whereby they choose to overlook the menacing side of pain, and choose to focus on the optimistic angle of it by taking a sabbatical to the beach.

“Take a ride with me, to the Otherside, a little vibe yeah I’m the one that you confide in” he moots on the enticing chorus as he tries to lure his vibe into a trip to “Trinidad & Tobago beaches”, or to “West Indies” for vacay to duck “problems with her mom & dad”.

Despite such a baleful subject matter, the track is butter, hypnotically good, and projects Chris’ glistening persona, songwriting abilities, and hit-making dexterity as he crafts a banger of a track, showcasing his toxic yet fun-going style. It’s set to kick you up your feet and book the next flight to somewhere tropical.

“(Otherside is) about  a girl going trough the same thing I went through losing someone I loved. But its about how there’s anther side of things/ another side of life where we can let it all go” Chris Catlin said in a recent interview.

Drifting slightly from his Dance-Afrobeat elements that he has been known to deliver through records such as “Gyal”, “I Remember” that are records he has become identifiable with, “Otherside” taps into a really broken side that forces him to pull his best from – of which he gingerly performs, and quite superbly at that.

“OtherSide is a single I wrote shortly after my dad died – about  a girl going trough the same thing I went through losing someone I loved,” he said. “But it’s about how there’s anther side of things/ another side of life where we can let it all go. Sometimes you need someone to remind you there’s another side to the coin” he re-affirms.

It’s commendable that even through real times of deep self-reflection, Chris is no slouch, able to enact his hedonistic side and turn lemons into lemonade, inspiring us to not bow our heads down but to instead move on with style.
