ChevoBeatz: A Q&A with the Dutch Music Producer on ‘Time’s Dread’ and What’s Next

ChevoBeatz is on a roll, and his latest production, ‘Time’s Dread,’ is the proof. Known for his bold, genre-blending beats and fearless social commentary, ChevoBeatz is making waves in the global music scene. The track is already gaining serious traction and is poised to hit the iTunes charts. We sat down with the mastermind himself to talk about his latest release, his multicultural roots, and what’s coming up next.

Q: ‘Time’s Dread’ is already making waves. What inspired this track?

ChevoBeatz: Honestly, I wanted to make music that matters. ‘Time’s Dread’ isn’t just about a catchy beat—it’s a wake-up call. We’re living in a world where corruption and injustice are everywhere, but no one wants to talk about it. That’s why I teamed up with FyaVerse. He’s raw, real, and unafraid to speak his truth. We wanted to create something that resonates, not just in Jamaica or Europe but worldwide.

Q: You two have worked together before on ‘Shatta Gyal,’ which topped Argentina’s Billboard charts. How did this new collaboration come about?

ChevoBeatz: Yeah, ‘Shatta Gyal’ was a crazy ride! We knew we had to team up again, but this time we wanted to do something deeper. When he came to me with the idea for ‘Time’s Dread,’ I knew this was the perfect opportunity to blend powerful lyrics with a reggae beat that sticks. Our chemistry in the studio is wild; we just get each other’s vibe.

Q: Your sound is so unique, blending reggae, Caribbean, Bollywood, and even chutney influences. Where does that come from?

ChevoBeatz: (Laughs) Yeah, my background is a melting pot. I was born in the Netherlands, but my roots go back to Bihar, Calcutta, and Gujarat in India, with a heavy dose of Surinamese culture thrown in. It’s like I’ve got the world’s music running through my veins. I first fell in love with music at five years old when my dad, Sudesh Kumar—you might know him as “Bonniac SK” on YouTube—gave me my first guitar. Later, I switched to bass guitar, playing in his band. Those experiences shaped my sound and made me the producer I am today.

Q: You’re known for blending genres. How do you approach production?

ChevoBeatz: It’s all about storytelling. I don’t just make beats to make people dance. I want them to feel something. I use my multicultural background to mix and match genres in ways people don’t expect. Like in ‘Time’s Dread,’ you hear traditional reggae, but there are subtle influences from Caribbean and even Bollywood beats. I want my music to be an experience. It’s about connecting cultures and creating something fresh and meaningful.

Q: You’ve got some exciting collaborations coming up. Can you spill the details?

ChevoBeatz: Absolutely! I’m working on a new project with Chuma Africa, one of Kenya’s biggest names. We’ve worked together before on tracks like ‘Naiwe’ and ‘Bamba’, and the vibe was just electric. This time, we’re cooking up something even bigger—it’s going to be wild.

I’m also teaming up with JahPlaka from Ghana, who blew up on TikTok with his song ‘Solitude’. His storytelling is next-level, and I can’t wait to see how our styles mesh. I’m really hyped about these collaborations.

Q: What’s the message you want people to take away from your music?

ChevoBeatz: I want people to feel empowered. My music isn’t just about beats and hooks—it’s about speaking the truth. Whether it’s calling out corruption in ‘Time’s Dread’ or blending cultural sounds that break down stereotypes, I want my listeners to feel something real.

Q: What’s next for ChevoBeatz?

ChevoBeatz: Oh, man, I’ve got big plans. I’m not just staying in one lane. I want to push boundaries and redefine what global music sounds like. Apart from the collabs with Chuma Africa and JahPlaka, I’m also working on some solo projects. Plus, I’m expanding my label, ChevoProductions, and scouting for new talent.

I’m all about evolution—keeping my sound fresh and relevant but always staying true to my roots.

Q: Last question—how can fans keep up with you?

ChevoBeatz: I’m all over social media! You can find me on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. I love connecting with fans, and I always drop sneak peeks of what I’m working on. Plus, I’ve got live performances and virtual events lined up, so stay tuned.

‘Time’s Dread’ is just the beginning. If you think that was powerful, wait till you hear what’s coming next.
