“When I was coming up, we had gangs here, gangs there, up the street, down the street, on my block, around the block,” explains barber-turned-rapper Boss Tripp 4Tre. “It was a lot going on then, and there is still a lot going on now.”
What kept this San Antonio native son out of the line of fire was becoming a barber at a very young age.
Keeping his clientele looking good in more ways than one, he also supplied them with the latest apparel, shoes and accessories for the entire family via his drippy fashion line Bossed Up Productions. And just last year, this self-motivated entrepreneur expanded his citywide reach with a rapidly blossoming music career.
His latest release is titled “Out the mud” and as the title suggests, the song is about him overcoming all the struggles he had to face to become the artist he is today, both a reminder that life often is not easy so nothing is handed out to you and an inspiration to people that are currently in “the mud” showing them that hard work can often lead to a strong way out.
The single comes with some strong visuals, showing Boss paying homage to his mother at the cemetery while rapping about how he will never stop working and how he will be “levitating levitating”. Once again he is proving how wide his range can be and why he deserves a place at the table of the “next-ups”.
