‘Boom-bap, grungy punk rap with a modern twist’: Eazy Bellucci breaks down “Proceed With Caution” EP

Eazy Bellucci is the alternate name for twoEazy, an eclectic creative fresh off the release of his “Proceed With Caution” EP. Described by the man himself as “boom-bap, grungy punk rap with a modern twist,” it’s got a little something for everyone — especially when it comes to lyrics — and that is exactly what Eazy set out to do.

“The old school sound directly correlates to the story inspired by my high school days, when I felt timid but as if I needed to put a persona on to be liked,” Eazy Bellucci explained. “[I wrote] about the trials and tribulations of adolescence and how damaging it is to navigate with a mask on and showcasing the journey of finding who you are.”

The relatable content is accentuated by influences that range from Beyoncé to Childish Gambino to P-Lo. Additionally, Eazy seeks inspiration from the ballroom queer scene and came up with his alternate moniker by combining his nickname “Eazy” — close to his birth name Ethan — and the last name of Italian actress Monica Bellucci.

The fact that most of the EP was self-produced elevates it to another level. It also ties in with Eazy’s future plans for a bigger two-part project years in the making titled “The Running Joke,” which continues the story of the adolescent on “Proceed With Caution.”

“I am currently…diving into more modern sounds and more genres,” the Bay Area native said. “I am extremely excited for people to hear what I’ve been brewing. This is not the end.”
