BK Gazi is a rising force in hip-hop, a dreamer who channels his thoughts, struggles, and inspirations into raw, authentic tracks that speak directly to those who believe in chasing what they love. With a unique sound blending soul, boom-bap, and modern rap, BK is quickly making a name for himself with his first album Winner Mentality, a reflection of his unyielding determination to succeed.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, BK spent his formative years surrounded by music. His grandparents, particularly his mother’s side, were musicians themselves, playing the piano, singing, and even composing their own songs. Music, he says, is in his blood. But his journey to becoming an artist was far from linear.
Though he grew up appreciating music, BK’s true love for it ignited around 2019 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. While many people took that time to pause, BK dove into writing music. Initially, he tried his hand at making beats but found himself at a loss. It wasn’t until 2024 that he discovered his brother was also a musician, producing beats in his own studio. That revelation turned out to be the breakthrough BK needed. With his brother’s mentorship, BK’s music-making journey began in earnest. In June 2024, just after graduating from high school, BK released his first single Runnit.
“The moment I released my first single, I realized that if no one knows about your music, no one’s gonna listen to it. It was immediate promotion, promotion, promotion,” BK recalls, reflecting on his early struggles in the industry. But he didn’t stop there. Less than a month later, he dropped Options, a track that represented his style, slower and more soulful hip-hop.
Despite his initial momentum, BK hit a creative wall. He faced writer’s block and doubted his future in music. “I started to wonder, is this for me? Am I wasting my time?” he admits. But instead of giving up, BK channeled his energy into crafting an album that would change everything.
“I decided to release an album, and I hit the ground running,” he says. He took a step back from partying and social distractions, putting all his focus on his music. After months of hard work, he released a series of singles leading up to his first album Winner Mentality. The track DA ROLL served as a declaration: “Hey, I’m here. I’m ready for this.”
The album, which represents BK’s mentality as a winner, someone who doesn’t give up despite obstacles, was a milestone for the young artist. “It was amazing working with my brother and other producers. I’m proud of how the album turned out, especially since I made most of the beats myself,” he shares. For BK, Winner Mentality was more than just an album; it was a statement about perseverance, overcoming adversity, and the unwavering belief in one’s potential.
As he continues to grow as an artist, BK is constantly in “grind mode.” He’s already working on multiple albums and has a treasure trove of unreleased music in the works. “I always have something in the pipeline, whether it’s new songs, new beats, or projects I’m working on,” he says with a smile.
His biggest musical influences include J. Cole, Drake, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West. BK looks up to J. Cole’s resilience, seeing him as the underdog who continues to prove his worth. Drake’s versatility and mind-blowing music resonate deeply with BK, as does Lil Wayne’s mastery of bars and unapologetic authenticity. And Kanye West, particularly his legendary production, has had a profound impact on how BK approaches his own music.
Though he’s still early in his career, BK’s passion and work ethic set him apart from many of his peers. “It’s not just about making music for me. It’s about making music that connects, that inspires people to chase their dreams,” he explains. His journey is still unfolding, but one thing is certain: BK Gazi is here to stay.
When asked about what’s next, BK’s excitement is palpable. “I’m working on a song that I’m super excited to release. It might be one of my favorite tracks I’ve made so far,” he teases. As BK continues to build on the foundation he’s set with Winner Mentality, fans can expect more music, more growth, and more unapologetic ambition.
For now, BK is focused on his journey. He may have started out with just a pen and a notebook, but today he’s standing tall with a mic and an entire future ahead of him.
