British-Ghanaian hip-hop artist Benicio is set to ignite the music scene with his new single, Sorry For The Late Replies, dropping on the 6th of June, 2025. This three-track release is an unfiltered glimpse into the creative mind of a hungry artist, offering fans a taste of what’s to come from his eagerly awaited debut mixtape, A Beautiful Day.
Sorry For The Late Replies is a collection of throwaway tracks from the A Beautiful Day studio sessions, yet these songs are anything but disposable. Benicio flexes his lyrical dexterity, weaving tales of ambition, hustle, and the relentless pursuit of success in the rap game. With sharp bars, he lyrically lays down his drive to dominate the industry while taking in the rewards of his grind. The single also reveals a more introspective side, as Benicio navigates the tension between his commitment to his craft and his relationship, grappling with time split between the studio and his partner. Through it all, he reaffirms his loyalty, urging her to hold on as he chases his dreams.
Benicio’s Sorry For The Late Replies is a striking reminder that even his “throwaways” command attention. With razor-sharp delivery and emotionally charged undertones, the British-Ghanaian artist effortlessly balances raw introspection with gritty bravado, revealing an undeniable depth that sets him apart from his peers. Each track feels deliberate, packed with textured storytelling and confident flair, while SLO’s crisp production ties everything together with a refined edge. Benicio’s voice is both grounded and visionary—he doesn’t just rap, he communicates purpose, growth, and intent. This release not only builds anticipation for his upcoming mixtape but affirms that his ascent is no accident—it’s earned.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by SLO, (George Amofah Afriyie), who also graces the single’s cover art, this release marks the start of a dynamic partnership. Sorry For The Late Replies showcases their seamless chemistry, delivering a polished yet gritty sound that’s sure to resonate with hip-hop fans worldwide.
Born Benjamin Ekow Otoo on August 20th, 1998, in London, Benicio grew up in Walthamstow, surrounded by a vibrant tapestry of music—Highlife, Gospel, Reggae, R&B, Grime, and Hip-Hop, thanks to his family. At 11, he moved to Ghana, where he soaked up HipLife, Azonto, and Afrobeats, shaping the eclectic sound that defines him today. His rap journey began at 13, sparked by a friend’s performance in a school competition. By 15, while at Mfantsipim School in Ghana, he was sharpening his skills at variety shows and after-hours rap battles, performing under the name Kiddfresh.
After graduating, Benicio dove into music, releasing his debut EP WHEN WE GET THERE: A Prelude To A Beautiful Day and the collaborative project Dreams Worth Fighting For with RUDEWRLD collective members T$G and FJace. The latter soared to number 15 on Ghana’s Top Albums Chart (All Genres) and number 5 on the World Genre chart. In 2021, he returned to the UK, rebranding as Benicio, a name meaning “blessed” in Spanish, tying back to his given name, Benjamin. His 2020 single For Now, recently remastered, serves as the lead single for his forthcoming mixtape, signaling his evolution as an artist.
