A$AP Rocky is always willing to experiment with his sound, which was apparent with his latest album Testing. The Mob frontman stopped by Australia’s triple j radio station for a performance as part of their Like A Version segment on Thursday and stepped it up again.

The 29-year-old kicked off his medley with Testing standout cut “Praise the Lord,” where he was joined by Skepta and a four-piece live band, making for a luscious sonic that rivals the album’s recorded version.

The Harlem native then showed off his artistic versatility by moving into a cover of Otis Redding’s 1968 classic “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay.” Rocky should put his soulful singing voice to use more often on records in the future. Overall, A$AP delivered a soothing performance, where he properly paid homage and saw a creative risk pay off.

Later Thursday, Rocky popped up at one of Skepta’s Sydney Opera House shows as a surprise guest, sending the Aussie crowd into a frenzy for the final track of the night with their lethal collab “Praise the Lord.” The fashion icon continues his Australia run, where he’s slated to perform at the Listen Out Festival over the weekend.

“This was a crazy experience. I had mad fun today, and Skepta made it even twice as fun. I can’t wait to come back out here to Australia. It’s just been gifts, video games, and good energy. You can Stream’t really ask for more,” A$AP said following the triple j performance.
