Artist Spotlight: Kamanchi Pro

East Coast by way of the nation’s capital, meet Kamanchi Pro. The moment he walks into a room, you know you’re in for an interesting ride. With a sandwich bag full of 20 pre-rolled blunts of weed (a la Lil Wayne in his prime), he doesn’t even ask if he can smoke. He just lights one and settles in.

Behind the Music

When asked about what drew him to the music industry, Kamanchi’s answer is simple: “The money.” Inspiration for his work comes from life, pain, struggle, loss, and his kids. His creative process is straightforward, “Experience life, smoke, write, rehearse, record, perfect, release.”

An average day for Kamanchi involves a mix of creativity and personal responsibilities. “Smoke, create. Argue with my baby mommas, check on my kids, piss off a rapper or two. I like cooking too,” he shares.

The Message in the Music

Is there a hidden meaning in his music? “Hidden? Nah, it’s right there,” he responds. He loves collaborating with other artists, sending shoutouts to She-rah, Space Bandido, Avalon, Nashira, and Dozobwoi, among others. The process is easy for him; driven by the soul, the spirit, and what comes naturally.

Interacting with fans is something Kamanchi loves; he welcomes everyone to reach out in respect and love. Whether on the streets, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or YouTube, he’s always ready to engage.

The Ups and Downs of the Industry

When asked about the best parts of his line of work, he replies, “The opportunity to make money. And the fans. The ones who listen and tell me they feel me… that’s love.” His least favorite aspect? “Jealous, weird, hating rappers.” He also points out the harsh realities of the music industry, which can often take advantage of independent artists before they even get a chance to make a name for themselves.

Despite the high-pressure environment, Kamanchi admits to dealing with performance anxiety and anxiety when releasing new music. “Yeah, I get that shit,” he confesses. However, he trusts his circle and ultimately trusts himself.

A Word of Advice

For those trying to break into the music scene, Kamanchi advises, “If you really want to make music, just know that you need money and/or relationships… preferably both. You’re gonna spend a lot of money and you better have some smart people in your corner because it’s a thinking game. But if you play it right, you can win.”

As he lights his fourth blunt and walks out, leaving behind an aroma of ganja, it’s clear that Kamanchi Pro is ready to take on the music world with his unique blend of raw talent, hard work, and unapologetic authenticity. His album, “No Guaranteez,” is available on all platforms now. Be sure to stay tuned for what’s next for this breakout artist of the year.
